NEW YORK – An elderly woman in Brooklyn was hit by a garbage truck from the New York City Department of Sanitation on Thursday morning, police announced.
According to the authorities, the incident occurred around 8:32 am at the intersection of Avenue 15 and 85 Street.
A preliminary investigation determined that the vehicle’s driver, 34-year-old Kule Brown, was making 15 laps. Avenue when it hit the victim, police said. The old woman suffered severe trauma to her legs.
Paramedics transported the woman to the hospital where she was declared in critical condition starting Thursday evening.
The driver was arrested and charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian, among others. The NYPD Highway Collision Investigation Squad is investigating this collision.
