A gang of young people met in a hotel room in Salto to scam elderly people – La Guardia

Four people who are from another sector committed fraud crimes against older adults in Salto, where through the story of an uncle they got them to take out loans at different financial intermediary organizations and then took it away from them.

They could be caught by the Salta Police in the middle of the scam process, when they went with an adult woman to withdraw a loan they forced her to take out.

The Police said that the staff of the Complex Crimes Department of the Salto Police Headquarters, after collecting data related to a report on fraud cases, were able to identify through camera surveillance two subjects who were waiting for him the victims to whom they applied for loans. through local financial institutions.

Through stratagems and deception, they were induced to deliver the money. And then they managed to identify two people, who lived in the middle of a hotel in the town. To find the subjects, the police raided the hotel room in the afternoon, and managed to find three subjects in one of the rooms, two of them of legal age (19 and 20 years old) and another, a 17-year-old teenager.

At the place they found the amount of $ 41,882 Uruguayan pesos and US $ 100 American dollars, as well as several recently acquired clothes, proceeding to seize them.

Likewise, the Police went to a financial institution on the east side of the city where another man involved in this case, an 18-year-old young man, had joined an 85-year-old woman to complete the procedures to do a loan of $U 220,000 (two hundred and twenty thousand Uruguayan pesos), posing as his grandson, for which he was arrested.

The subjects worked in the following way, one of them contacted the last victim and tried to get personal information from him, mainly of a family nature that would allow them to continue the scam movement . Later, another person approached the victim, posing as a friend of a family member, where they told him that he needed money for various reasons and that he was a friend of that person, they even told him if he wanted to talk to the victim. He is a member of the family. They mentioned him, they informed him.

When the victim agreed to give her the contact details of her alleged relatives, she called and was answered on the other end by another associate, who had already received information about the woman, and was posing as that friend who told her that that person. he was with her at that time, yes he was a friend and that he had asked him, since he was traveling to Salto, to try to find her and tell her about the problems she had and that if she agreed lend it to her. money, he would give it to his friend, who was really his partner.

So far, two people have been detained and two others have been summoned by the Prosecutor’s Office, the police were able to recover the loan money and return it to the victim.
