A gang of mischievous raccoons attacked reporters at the White House

Raccoons have a long tradition on the grounds of the White House. Most of the time, the people who take care of the property of the presidential residence and the adjacent land are under their control. On September 29, however, four mammals from the bear family escaped and immediately performed a bold stunt when they set out to equip journalists.

“The spirit of Pawnee has entered the White House. The raccoons attacked a group of journalists on the North Lawn. Before they were recalled, they pulled the photographer and subsequently the correspondent by the pants, “tweeted Paula Reidová from CBS News.

Mentioning Pawnee, she came across the popular American politically satirical sitcom Parks and Recreation, which houses the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana, which is crowded with raccoons.

The incident quickly became viral on social media, with some Twitter users linking it to how the media reported on Donald Trump’s tax compliance. According to the jokers, the raccoons were sent by the American president himself.

Raccoon female Rebecca as the official presidential entourage

In reality, however, raccoons are old settlers on White House grounds. The most famous of these was the female Rebecca, who was kept as a pet by the 30th President of the United States, Calvin Coolidge, after receiving it in 1926 as a gift from a supporter from Mississippi.

Rebecca was originally supposed to end up on the president’s plate at Thanksgiving dinner, but the Coolidg family liked her so much that she made her a pet. She walked with the president on a leash and accompanied the family on formal occasions at the White House.
