The images of the fight, posted on social networks, are quite impressive. On Sunday March 19, a futsal match between the FC Villefranche Beaujolais and AC Pierre-Bénite Oullins teams took place turned into a nightmare.

Five players were injured during this meeting organized at the Herzog gymnasium in Oullins.

“They are not supporters”

It all started with a first scuffle between rival players. In a video of the match posted on TikTok, we clearly see a first punch be given. Then, everything accelerates and the scene turns into chaos.

“Part of the public went down to the field to fight,” confirms Mehdi Sahraoui, president of AC Pierre-Bénite Oullins. ” These are young people who come from the neighborhoods next door and who are not supporters. They sensed the tense atmosphere and took advantage of it. »

Police and firefighters on site

Villefranche players were thus targeted by spectators, but also by some players from the opposing team. Violently attacked and beaten, three of them were injured. Two people from Oullins also suffered bruises.

“We tried to intervene, to separate them. Fortunately, a security official called the police who quickly arrived. But the people who started this fight were already no longer there, ”reports Mehdi Sahraoui. The firefighters also had to move.

Six players permanently excluded

Two days later, the president of AC Pierre-Bénite Oullins still can’t believe it. “It’s the first time it’s happened at our club. We couldn’t anticipate this event, because we’ve never had a problem like that, ”he says.
