A funeral held in Vitoria approximately two weeks ago has become the largest known focus of spread of the coronavirus in Spain, as reported today by El País. More than 60 attendees at the ceremony and subsequent contacts have been infected. These are 38 people residing in the towns of Haro and Casalarreina in La Rioja and at least 25 others who live in Álava, according to the figures handled by this newspaper.

And it is that, according to this same information, this focus could be the origin of the contagion of several professionals from the hospitals of Txagorritxu and Santiago in Vitoria.
Precisely, the director of the center for coordination of health alerts, Fernando Simón referred yesterday to this episode before the striking increase in cases in La Rioja where there are already 38 positives. “They are associated with a single broadcast event, to a specific group, very identified, which in principle should not pose a population risk. However, the investigations of contacts are being carried out and evaluating whether that risk could be extended, but in principle it seems to refer to a single contagion event and a limited group, “he said.
