The aim of the festival has remained the same – to promote interest in jazz music, to encourage the cooperation of future and existing jazz musicians and to continue to experience the joy of jazz music in Latgale. In the master classes of the festival, more than 30 music school and university students, aspiring musicians and other jazz enthusiasts from all three Baltic countries will play music and collaborate under the guidance of an international team of seven teachers, and in the evenings will hold public jazz improvisation sessions culminating. The festival team has also prepared an extensive concert program of various jazz associations, which will include a concert program of the duo of Denis Pashkevich and Arkady Gotesman on Friday and Saturday. Dialogue, in concerts Siim Aimla band (Estonia), Latvian-Lithuanian Musicians Association Thrombomania, there will be a concert of Stanislav Brock Daugavpils Music High School and singer Diāna Pīrāgs, as well as the closing concert of the festival with Rēzekne Big Band.

The idea for a jazz festival at Luznava Manor was born in September 2018, when the Jazz Music Department was established at Jānis Ivanovs Rezekne Music High School, headed by the young jazz musician, composer Toms Lipskis. When he started working in Latgale, he had the idea to create a jazz festival in Luznava, thus also taking over the artistic management of the future festival. At the end of the summer of 2018, Luznava School culture two concert programs included a jazz festival opening concert Jazz. Foreboding thus marking the time and place of the festival. Unfortunately, in the fall, Tom died prematurely. Honoring the work started by Tom Lipsk and dedicating the festival to his memory, with the motto “Continuation!” In August 2019, the first Baltic jazz festival Škiuņa Jazz took place in Luznava Manor. “The continuation of the started ideas, the continuation of jazz music, the continuation of the transfer of knowledge of experienced jazz musicians to the young will be this year as well,” promises the artistic director of the festival Lauris Amantovs, determined to keep the festival’s ideas and beginnings hot.
