The French Football Federation has announced that it has lodged a complaint with the international federation ‘FIFA’ after the equalizing goal was disallowed in the dying moments by Antoine Griezmann, after the video referee reviewed the incident after the final whistle during the match with Tunisia on Wednesday .
Griezmann flicked the ball into the net after eight minutes of added time, but the referee disallowed the goal as the striker was in an offside position when Aurelien Choameni passed the ball into the penalty area early in the attack.
A Tunisian defender then touched the ball and then reached Griezmann, who was not in an offside position in this shot, but the disallowing of the goal gave Tunisia a 1-0 win in a result that didn’t affect qualification .
The French FA said in a statement: We are filing a complaint after Antoine Griezmann’s goal was wrongly disallowed from our point of view. Such a protest must be filed within 24 hours of the final whistle.
Tunisia won 1-0 and were eliminated from the World Cup, while France progressed from Group D and reached the round of 16, facing Poland on Sunday.
The French federation did not specify whether the complaint was linked to the cancellation of the goal itself or because it was canceled after the final whistle.
