A freight train every seven minutes: the Köstendorf-Salzburg tunnel makes it louder for residents

ÖBB is planning the Köstendorf – Salzburg tunnel and the implementation of the through line from Budapest to Paris. The additional burden for the urban population is completely unlit.

Test drillings around Köstendorf are the harbingers of a billion-dollar project, the construction of which is scheduled to begin in around five years. The project includes digging a 16-kilometer-long railway tunnel to Salzburg. Not only is the planned landfill causing excitement (700 truck trips a day for the excavation), but also the danger for the Flachgau drinking water. The city of Salzburg, many of whom have not yet dealt with the project, will also face hardships.
