Civil engineer Gautham and his family’s new home is in Travancore near Cherthala. Gautham, who works in the construction sector, wanted his house to be different. That is how the house is built in A frame model.
The roof is made of GI truss work and ceramic tiles laid. Below this is paneling with TKT sheets giving a wood finish. A feature of A frame houses is that they can be constructed relatively quickly as there is not much concrete. Construction cost can also be relatively reduced.
Downstairs is sitting, living, dining, kitchen and two bedrooms. Upstairs there is an open bedroom, sitting area and office space. The total area is 1400 square feet.
The interior has an open theme. So it feels pretty spacious. Living-dining is double height. To reduce the cost of concrete.
One of the reasons for the reduced cost is the reduced use of wood. Only the main doors are wooden. All other windows and doors are uPVC. The interior is covered with branded tiles with a wooden finish.

Here, the stairs are made of GI pipes at a lower cost than the concrete stairs. A pinewood plank was laid on it. A courtyard and a wash area were set at the bottom of the stairs. The walls here are decorated with Moroccan tiles.
The sitting area in the courtyard was built with the materials left over from the house construction. It is a favorite place for families to spend their evenings here.
17 lakhs for the structure. Since the plot was a pond, it was necessary to fill it and build the foundation. Normal plots do not require such amount.
The interior is furnished with essential artistry. The best quality materials are used. So about 10 lakhs was spent. The total cost is Rs 27 lakhs. It should be noted that such houses can be built at a much lower cost in a secure location and with minimal furnishing.
