What is a black powder weapon?
Black powder guns are pistols, revolvers, shotguns or rifles manufactured before 1885. They are treated as collector’s items. You do not need a permit to buy such a weapon, you do not need to register it, and you can even order a pistol or rifle online. It is enough to be over 18 years old. – It’s a front-loading or rear-loading gun with bullet or gunpowder. It is as dangerous as today’s pistols, and you can even say that it is even more – explains Jerzy Dziewulski (78). Why? – Such a weapon is very difficult to shoot accurately. By targeting, for example, the legs, you can shoot in the chest, and by targeting the chest, you can hit the head. Especially when a person shoots who is not trained in shooting – he adds.
You can hit the chest by targeting the knee
A black powder weapon is the one with which the father-in-law of actor Antek Królikowski (32 years old) fired at his relatives during an argument that took place in Busko-Zdrój. His wife’s father, Joanna Opozda (33), did not want to let her mother into the house, who was supposed to come there to get her things. The actress’s mother came to Busko-Zdrój m.in. with son-in-law and second daughter. The argument that broke out between them and Królikowski’s son-in-law almost ended tragically. Opozda’s father shot through the wall. His daughter was standing behind her. He nearly killed her. – This shot pierced the wall and flew over the head of my sister-in-law, said Królikowski. – This is a weapon that can kill a man. There is absolutely no doubt about it here. It is a lethal weapon and it must be said loud – emphasizes Jerzy Dziewulski. Antoni Królikowski described what happened in the house of his in-laws in a very emotional reaction on social media. He called Dariusz O.’s behavior an attempted murder.
He had no right to shoot
Despite the fact that black powder weapons are collector’s weapons and do not need a permit, they cannot be fired when and where you like. Jerzy Dziewulski pays special attention to this. – Since they are collector’s items, even having them at home, they cannot be used in self-defense – he emphasizes. The police are currently investigating the case and no charges have been brought against anyone.
