The Slovak hockey club HC ´05 Banská Bystrica recruited Russian striker Nikita Ščerbak.

The 25-year-old winger has experience in the NHL, in which he was selected by Montreal from 26th place in the 2014 draft. He played a total of 37 matches in the profile, in which he scored six goals and added two assists. From 2016 to 2019, he wore Montreal Canadiens and Los Angeles Kings jerseys.

During this period he spent most of his time in the AHL, where he also worked in the previous year 2020/21 in the Texas Stars jersey. In total, he completed two hundred matches in this competition and collected 123 points (38 + 85). During the 2019/20 season, he played for Avangard Omsk and Traktor Chelyabinsk in the KHL.

“As the season draws to a close, we tried to increase the competition in the team and we were looking for a reinforcement in the position of the wing. Nikita was dealing with opportunities in North America, but since he is considered a veteran with 200 matches in the AHL we therefore have this option.

It is a well-known name in the hockey environment, we promise a lot from it and we are glad that you chose Banská Bystrica to continue your career and open your way in Europe, “ for the club page said sports manager Július Koval.
