The former head of SANS in Plovdiv Angel Stoev is running for a new regional governor. His appointment is expected to be announced today or tomorrow, say sources at 24plovdiv.bg.
Angel Stoev is a well-known name under the hills. After retiring from SANS, he started a business. He was the executive director of the “Business for Plovdiv” association.
He currently runs a packaging company. His close friend Lyubozar Fratev, who heads the Tourism Council, said he did not know if Stoev would be the new governor.
“If so, I will be happy because he is an extremely respectable person. A professional. He has a doctorate in national security, he wrote a dissertation on the dangers of Islamism before they appeared in our country,” Fratev said. He added that on Sunday he spoke with Stoev, who was on a 22-kilometer hike in the mountains.
Before “Maritsa”, the former head of SANS neither confirmed nor denied that he would take over the regional administration. But the publication points out that on May 12, Stoev transferred the shares in his company to his wife. His sister is Dr. Mariana Cholakova – Honorary Consul of Germany in Plovdiv.
