A former Argentine MMA fighter is accused of killing his alleged kidnapper and assailant of his home in Canada

A group of individuals entered the house of Eduardo ‘Icho’ Larenas, taking him and his wife hostage.

A court in the city of Laval (Quebec, Canada) has charged former Argentine mixed martial arts fighter Eduardo ‘Icho’ Larenas with second-degree murder, after a body was found in his home, local press reports.

On the morning of May 25, Larenas and his wife, Gladys Rosana López, notified the Police and reported that they had been victims of invasion and robbery in the home they rented. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the “unrecognizable” body of a 17-year-old man.

Other media reports that the night before a group of individuals would have entered the house by force and took the couple hostage.

The former heavyweight wrestler would have grabbed a knife from one of the intruders and proceeded to stab him. Later, Larenas and his wife escaped from the place.

The conclusion of the investigation

Larenas, 41, and her partner were detained and have been denied release.

The investigators consider that ‘Icho’ did not act in self-defense, for which he has been accused of murder, while his wife was charged as an accomplice and is awaiting trial.

The assailants could have ties to organized crime.

Originally from Argentina, Eduardo Larenas has lived and trained in Canada for most of his professional wrestling career.

He competed mainly in Canadian promotion companies and in 2006 he participated in a UFC event.
