Ford Otosan is the largest manufacturer of commercial vehicles in Europe and will take ownership of the factory in Craiova and control over the production activity in Romania. The process is conditioned by the approvals of the authorities in the field. The transfer of property announced on Monday could end in the third quarter of 2022.
According to the plan, the Craiova plant will play a key role in Ford’s business in Europe while supporting the company’s plans for electrification (Model e) and commercial vehicles (Ford Pro).
For example, the Puma model will have a fully electric version from 2024, which will be built in Craiova
Also, a new light commercial vehicle, which will go into production next year in Craiova and which will have a fully electric version from 2024, will be the next generation Ford Transit Courier.
At the same time, the Tourneo Courier compact multifunctional vehicle will be built in Craiova in 2023, with a fully electric version starting in 2024.
The company also announced that production of the EcoSport model will stop by the end of this year.
