It is the seventeenth “adult” Fulbert de Chartres prize. Pierre-François Chaumereuil received his prize on Friday afternoon, in the auditorium of the Chartres media library, from the hands of Patrick Géroudet, municipal councilor responsible for the promotion of the City.

He is the author of Chronicles of Neustria: from Saint Martin to lazy kings . Neustria, the name of a Frankish kingdom whose capital was Soissons, is located between two rivers, the Loire and the Scheldt.

“There will be no third volume”

Resident of Beaugency (Loiret), retired, the winner confides: “In fact, everything came out of my head. I don’t know why or how. I wanted to bring the history of a vast region to life. The sequel to this first volume, titled From Charles Martel to the year one thousand , which received the Beauce and Dunois manuscript prize, has just been published. But there won’t be a third volume because I want to move on. I don’t know what yet. My first book was devoted to Jean de Dunois. Where will the next one take me? I completely ignore it. All my characters are invented, like the Abbé Léodard, from the monastery of Micy, who takes up the pen at the start of the novel. But, at 60%, the narrative revolves around the region that I have chosen. »
