A Florida company will bring packages to Cuba after a deal with AeroVaradero

A US company has signed an agreement with the Cuban state company AeroVaradero SA to transport shipments from that country paid by emigrants for their relatives on the island.

According to the official Prensa Latina, the Cuban company and Maravana Cargo signed the agreement as part of the International Transport and Logistics Fairwhich took place on the island and ended on Friday.

The contract signed by both companies, the report states, It will allow “to reduce the delivery times of non-commercial goods sent to the island from the territory of the United States, in particular by Cubans who reside there”.

This would solve one of the main headaches of the Cuban authoritiesunable to guarantee the distribution of the enormous quantities of parcels arriving on the island, whose emigrants support their families with all kinds of products, especially food, medicines and basic necessities.

In October 2021, the official newspaper grandmother reported the existence of more than 300,000 packages with more than one month delay in delivery. This was made public by one of the control meetings held by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz with the officials of the companies in charge of receiving and distributing the packages arriving in the country to analyze the problem.

Gotera specified that sea freight is also approved, but AeroVaradero’s strength will continue to be air freight, “so this alternative will be regulated for very bulky and specific cargoes,” cites the report.
