In the case of Delphine van Saksen-Coburg (53) this is her not very successful study career. The princess looks back on the years between her 11th and 16th, when she went to school at various English boarding schools. There, among the nuns, she cultivated her rebellious side. Delphine hardly cared about the strict rules, and they were mainly meant to be broken. Officially she was never sent away, but the princess was sent several times with the subtle message that she did not have to come back. She dropped out of school at the age of 16 and later obtained her diploma through the middle jury.

During that rebellious phase, Delphine discovered disco and the music of Madonna, thanks to Top of the pops. With her dance partner Sander, she chooses a cha-cha-cha on a Madonna song on Saturday.

Nigerian Prince

Another dance reveals that Delphine of Saxe-Coburg is not the only one of royal descent. Home– in Thirtiesactor Yemi Oduwale (35) looks back on his trip to Nigeria in 2014, where he made a documentary about the search for his roots. The son of a Nigerian father, Oduwale descends from the Yoruba tribe. In it he is actually a prince. His grandfather wanted Odowale to become chieftain, but his western upbringing meant that this was no longer an option.

When his grandfather became seriously ill in 2014, Oduwale decided to visit his Nigerian family. He hoped to feel at home there, but the tribesmen saw him more as a white man. Still, the trip made an impression. Oduwale and his partner Laura transform this experience into a modern dance.

Nina Derwael (21) and Simone

Nina Derwael should not dig deep for a memorable memory: in a freestyle dance, the gymnast looks back on her golden performance at the Olympic Games in Tokyo last summer. In her own words, it is not only the pinnacle of her career, but also the happiest moment in her life.

Nora Gharib (28) en Adrian

The public got to know Nora Gharib in K3 looking for K3, but she broke through in the film Patser. With no acting experience, she got a lead role. Thanks to Adil El Arbi and Billal Fallah, who saw Gharib in a video explain how she had to fight to be accepted within her Moroccan family because she was with a Ghanaian man. Her character in Patser, Dabia, is the inspiration for a tough paso doble.

Jonathan Medart (21) en Bjork

A dance with a message: TikTokker Jonatan Medart returns to fifth grade after following a crash diet. An unfortunate period for him. To lose weight, he survived for a while on cucumbers and dry cakes. The reactions were positive, but afterwards Medart realized that his diet was wrong and unhealthy. His quickstep is all about ‘body positivity’.
