In Brzeg (Opole Province) high water flooded the sewage treatment plant.
“Despite the actions taken to secure the sewage treatment plant in Brzeg, it was not possible to maintain the operation of the facility. The power supply was turned off by the power plant and currently the technological devices are not functioning” – we read in a statement from the City Office in Brzeg.
The city council also appealed for “reasonable use of the sewage system”.

Brzeg waterworks: the water is drinkable
The Water and Sewage Company in Brzeg emphasizes that tap water is safe to drink. Brzeg obtains water from Gierszowice, which is not currently at risk of flooding. Supplies will not be suspended.

“The physicochemical condition of water supplied to the network is constantly monitored. We confirm that all parameters are in line with the guidelines for water intended for consumption,” we read in the announcement.
Evacuation of residents
The mayor of Brzeg, Violetta Jaskólska-Palus, announced another evacuation of residents “in connection with the ongoing flood protection operation”.

What should you prepare for an evacuation?
Evacuated people will be picked up from their homes, by prepared transport or delivered by the fire department to the assembly point.
Help will be provided to the elderly and sick. People subject to evacuation should have the most necessary personal items, medicines and documents prepared.
Pets must wait out the evacuation at the “Przytul Psisko” shelter.

Flooded island, flooded street
Water flooded the Odra Island, where about 20 people remained in their homes. Access to them is difficult. MOPS employees will be visiting flooded properties again today and encouraging evacuation.

In the morning, water also began to appear on Oławska Street, where the rising water level caused storm drain manholes to be breached. For now, properties are not flooded, although the situation may change.
