Throughout the night of October 1 and this morning of October 2, the authorities of Phan Thiet city, Binh Thuan province, blocked a section of Lac Long Quan street in Tien Thanh commune, Phan Thiet to overcome the flood of red sand all night. down the streets as well as people’s houses.
It is known that due to heavy rain, from the afternoon of October 1, a huge amount of red sand on the hills opposite Tien Thanh beach collapsed, causing the entire concrete bridge abutment in Tien Hai village to collapse.
The flood of red sand was still deep on Lac Long Quan street 10 cm-15 cm, in some sections more than 20 cm, causing many cars in circulation to get stuck on the road, burying their wheels in the sand, causing traffic jams on the entire route.
Besides red sand also hit people’s houses, causing at least 10 houses in Tien Phu village to be seriously affected.
Throughout the night, affected families were assisted by local military and police forces to clean their homes.
However, according to forecasts of the National Center for Hydrometeorological Forecasting, rainfall in the provinces of Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan, Binh Phuoc and Dong Nai is warned to have heavy rain of 30-60 mm, in some places up to 80 mm.
This center warns of a very high risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, and landslides on slopes in the above provinces.
