A Flock of Monkeys Goes Crazy, Destroys Palawija Plants in Ciamis

Ciamis News, (harapanrakyat.com), – A herd of monkeys in the plantation area of Selasari Village, Kawali District, Regency nice, West Java, getting crazier.

In fact, the monkey even devoured the secondary crops. As a result, palawija farmers failed to harvest.

Jejen, one of the farmers, said that the mad herd of monkeys came from the Gunung Sawal area.

While the monkeys came down and entered the community -owned plantation area has been going on for a long time.

In fact, he said, the monkeys seemed not afraid anymore when they saw a farmer who was gardening.

“A herd of monkeys of various sizes and ages freely thrash the plants,” said Jejen to HR Online, Monday (25/10/2021).

Meanwhile, to repel the mad herd of monkeys, the farmers have made various efforts. However, these efforts did not bear fruit.

“The monkey hordes are hard to get rid of. As a result, various secondary crops such as corn, beans and tubers were continuously exploited. And the result is crop failure,” he said.

He hopes that hunters can chase them away, so that the monkeys can return to their habitat or place of origin.

“Because, as long as the monkeys are still at home in the plantation, it is certain that the farmers of palawija crops will forever fail to harvest,” he said.

Meanwhile, Secretary of Selasari Village, Kawali District, Ciamis Regency, Herman, confirmed the monkey pest attack.

“The monkeys are getting crazier, and are no longer afraid of people in the garden,” he told HR Online, Monday (25/10/2021).

Furthermore, he suspects that many monkeys descend to the plantation because their habitat is disturbed.

“In addition, the supply for food is also reduced. Or it could be a wild animal chasing him,” he said.

According to him, dealing with monkey pests is different from dealing with other pests.

Because, apart from not being afraid of humans anymore, the mad herd of monkeys seemed to already know the schedule and time to enter the plantation area.

“In order to return to their habitat, there is great hope that apart from the hunters, BKSDA officers will also intervene to expel them,” he concluded. (Edji/R5/HR-Online)
