Paramedics then took a cabin crew member to hospital as a precaution.
“The flight from Sydney to Wellington returned to Sydney following reports of a strange smell in the cabin,” a Qantas spokesman said. He also said it was not an emergency landing but a ‘landing with priority’.
“The plane landed safely and will be inspected by technicians before returning to service. Passengers will be accommodated and transferred to the next available flight,” the spokesman said.
“We are sorry for the disruption caused by their trip and we thank them for their understanding,” he concluded.
