Since Jeff Bezos basically came up with the idea in the mid-90s – the germ of a business that has ended up in the current Amazon empire – the electronic book has gradually conquered the market. And although it has diversified – online stores, downloads, touch models, waterproof -, from that pioneer Amazon Kindle, the eBook has not made the evolutionary leap that mobile phones have made since last year with the first flexible smartphones. But that could change.
E ink
If mobiles already have flexible screens that allow you to fold them back on themselves like a portfolio, why not eBooks? That was the starting point of the E Ink Corporation, the company behind the ‘digital paper’ technology used by most e-Readers and electronic books on the market. E Ink has created a prototype than could be a separate point in electronic paper.
As we see in the video above, it is about an e-book that mounts a flexible screen, so it can be opened and closed like a traditional book. And has 5 physical buttons on the right side, plus two light bars implemented at the top of each sheet to illuminate each ‘page’.

The advantages at a glance are su larger size, which allows the concept of putting 2 sheets on screen, a more handy interface, and the highlight: that the screen is not only touch, but you can write on it using a stylus, as can be done in Samsung Galaxy Note mobiles.
Still a prototype
In this way, it is like having an eBook that you can read like a traditional book and is also a notebook to take notes writing by hand, or underline passages and make annotations in the margins. As a device, although it is still only a prototype, it is certainly promising for all its possibilities, but it is also true that right now, devices with flexible displays are in a very early phase of adoption, and it will still take 2-3 years to gain more. presence.
