Pain changes the way we view reality and ourselves. As Jonathan Safran Foer writes “it is a word that defines our gaze even more than what we are contemplating”.
Ingrid Alberti, 50, originally from Valbondione learned this since she was a young girl: “I discovered that I suffered from endometriosis around the age of 19, but already when I was 14 I suffered from severe pain, which severely penalized my activities and my life”. The path to diagnosis and above all to accept the pathology was arduous: but that dark and insidious disease did not extinguish her smile. Volunteering with the Endometriosis Project Association offered her a precious chance for rebirth.
