A five-storey house in Pécs caught fire, 50 people had to be evacuated

A fire broke out in a five-storey condominium in Pécs, more than 50 residents were evacuated on Friday. Two people were taken to the hospital by ambulances.

A spokesman for the Baranya County Disaster Management Directorate told MTI that a second-floor apartment had caught fire.

Firefighters evacuated the building, extinguished the flames, and are currently ventilating the house. Fifty people had to leave their homes temporarily, said Sándor Sárkány. He added: two people were injured, they were taken to the hospital by ambulances, their status is not yet known.

Residents have not yet been able to return to the apartments, waiting in front of the building for finishing work to be completed, the spokesman said.
