A fire raged in an apartment on Thorbeckelaan in Assen on Wednesday evening. A fourth floor apartment caught fire. The fire broke out and is now under control of the fire brigade. One person was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation.
Firefighters tackled the fire from both inside and out and turned it into a “very large fire” to ensure that sufficient assistance was available to evacuate the apartment. About a hundred people were welcomed into a nearby church.
The fire was under control at around a quarter to eleven, but due to the smoke developing, residents had to leave their homes. It is not known when residents will be able to return to their homes.
Also called the ambulance as a precaution.
