A fifth Gold Star for Tribune de Lyon

The World, I love to read and… Lyon tribune. Alongside the behemoths of the Parisian press, your weekly once again won the ACPM-OJD’s Gold Star.

This award, called “constancy in success”, attests that Lyon Tribune is the weekly whose sales have increased the most, of all the other French newspapers, during the last five years.

Very few newspapers have been awarded the Gold Star more than once. It has been shining in the Lyon sky for five years in a row. Lyon Tribune. An exception of which we are all the more proud as it occurs at a particularly critical time for French newspapers in general and those of Lyon in particular.

In 2020, a few days after the announcement of the first confinement, the company that distributed the press in France, Presstalis, infused with state subsidies for ages and largely ineffective, suddenly went bankrupt. All the newspapers handled by this company were therefore, overnight, deprived of access to your press points. The crisis was particularly hard in Lyon, since former Presstalis officials prevented any alternative solution from being put in place.

We therefore had to organize ourselves in disaster, having as a course, for our distribution, the same as for the editorial staff: independence. It took us only a few days to get our distribution back in hand by investing in cargo bikes, recruiting delivery people, structuring, in the midst of the confined chaos, logistics allowing you to find, in most kiosks in the metropolis. , your journal from Wednesday.

We did halfway there. Today, we deliver 163 points of sale directly in the metropolis; we expect 200 at the start of the school year. Sorry to all those who do not yet find us in their kiosks: do not hesitate to let us know your impatience, it will motivate us!

We didn’t just put bikes on the road. We have also put more journalists on the ground. After the uncertainty of the very first confinement, we reopened our local edition in Croix-Rousse, then launched a second in the 6e borough. We are not going to stop there. We hope, in five years, to cover the majority of the districts and municipalities of the metropolis.

Since confinement, everyone sings about the virtues of proximity. It is our reason for living and for us, proximity rhymes with quality journalism. Our ambition is to go to the end of the streets of Lyon, not to the end of the world.

More content, closer to you and newspapers delivered on time. These aren’t the only ingredients, far from it, that drive closer to the stars. Another, decisive one is needed. Without readers passionate about their territory, there is no lasting local press. We didn’t earn a fifth star. Lyon won it.

Thank you for your loyalty.
