Hockey players HK Nitra, 18 years old Adam Sykora and 17 years old Ondrey Molnar they participated in the floorball tournament in their school’s team. According to information, it should have been at the end of the match SPORT.sk Adam Sýkora was attacked illegally, on the basis of which a skirmish broke out between the two teams.
In it, Ondrej Molnár was supposed to punch one of the opponents in the face, causing him to break his sled and lose his teeth, for which he also had to undergo an operation. The police were later called, who took Ondrej Molnár to the station, where they questioned him and then released him. A criminal case has also been initiated in the case.
We asked the Nitra police for a statement. “On December 7, 2022 around 09:00 in the city of Nitra, on the playing surface of the floorball court of the Municipal Sports Hall, i.e. in a place accessible to the public, an offense of disorderly conduct in conjunction with bodily harm occurred .
The police are investigating the circumstances of this incident, therefore we will not provide further information on the facts discovered so far.”
Editorial office SPORT.sk and Denníka Šport also have a statement from United School at Slančíková 2 in Nitra, for which Adam Sýkora and Ondrej Molnár played and organized the whole event.
At the Nitra Region Championship school tournament in floorball for high school students, a deplorable event happened for all participants.
The match between SŠŠ Nitra and Zlaté Moravce Gymnasium was held according to rules.
Nine seconds before the end, Adam Sýkora was badly fouled during an attacking play, after which he flew over the post and went down. The referee announced a foul. Adam got up and walked over to the player who was fouling him and verbally warned him that he was really over the line because he was in danger of getting hurt himself. Immediately the Moravian players rallied around Adam. Our players, including Ondro, ran to them to defend Adam. The situation got confused and turned into a mutual shove, which the organizers ended in twenty seconds.
Ondrej Molnár received the first blow in the face, his lip is torn. Ondro instinctively returned the blow, unfortunately, with disproportionate force, causing injury to the adversary. He acted unintentionally, in the heat of battle and in an agitated atmosphere. He regretted his gesture and sincerely apologized.
The situation of our kids is all the more deplorable because they fought for school.
We are sorry that falsehoods are being spread through social networks which are damaging not only our school but also Slovakian hockey.
For the organizer of the competition: Eva Stümpelová, teacher of SŠŠ NItra
For the school: Zlata Maniačková, representative of SŠŠ Nitra
However, according to one of the witnesses of the incident, Ondrej Molnár was more aggressive and should have attacked another opponent as well. “Throughout the whole conflict, Nitra’s players were more aggressive right from the start. Our guys tried to defend their teammate, because Nitra didn’t care, they chased everyone. At that time I was in the middle of everything.
Ondrej Molnár chased another team-mate to our substitution, where he knocked him down and started kicking him, knees on his chin until his tongue fell out. Luckily, he wasn’t seriously injured in the end.”
Both Ondrej Molnár and Adam Sýkora should appear as early as Monday at the meeting of the under-20 national team in view of the Junior World Cup, which will start on 26 December in Canada. The whole situation is also resolved by the Slovak Ice Hockey Association (SZĽH).
“We are collecting information on the incident mentioned, then we will evaluate it and take a specific position on it”, This was stated by the spokesman of the SZĽH, Peter Jánošík.
Adam Sýkora is already a drafted hockey player when he was selected in the second round by the New York Rangers this year. Ondrej Molnár’s draft awaits after the end of the current season, on Friday he shouldn’t even appear in the Nitra lineup for the extra-league duel with Poprad.
