Nearly 700 passengers were evacuated Thursday this week after a fire on a ferry that connects New York City with Staten Island in the eastern United States.
The fire started at 5:00 p.m. with an explosion in the engine room, New York Fire Department said, forcing the ferry to be evacuated through a large-scale operation in the middle of the Hudson River.
Rush hour, the number of people to be evacuated (688 passengers and crew) and the fact that the ship was anchored near the New York pier near the Statue of Liberty complicated the situation, but no injuries were reported. reported New York Hispanic site El. Diario.
