The Reverend Javier Puchol Marco has donated to the City Council of El Perelló a photographic archive composed of 2,000 photographs that collect his pastoral and human work carried out over more than forty years in which he was rector of the municipality. The mayor, Juan Botella, thanked the donation, which “has a historical and sentimental value since these photographs are a reflection of society and the changes experienced by our people over the years.”

Puchol was rector of El Perelló from the early 1960s until well into the new century. From the first moment he showed great interest and concern for people and his work extended to the fields of culture and traditions. He is responsible for the construction of the new church, as well as those in the Recatí and Pouet areas, and he also built the barrack in the park that bears his name. He also promoted the creation of a cornet and drum band, as well as the dissemination of a parochial leaflet that also published humorous content, cooking recipes and local news.

His admiration and affection for El Perelló is reciprocal. After ceasing to be rector, he continued to go to town daily to walk and greet his neighbors. The Minor Local Entity distinguished him with the title of Favorite Son.
