A father’s face was disfigured and his limbs had previously been amputated… Dangerous bacteria claimed the lives of 9 children in Britain

The news of the ‘Strep A’ bacterium is making headlines in the British newspapers at this time, after 9 children died in Britain, due to their infection, after it spread again in Britain after about 3 years.

This bacterium has claimed the lives of 8 children in both England and Wales, as well as one child in Northern Ireland, and in Scotland, 437 children have been infected with strep in the past two weeks, according to The Guardian newspaper.

In a strange injury of its kind, a 42-year-old British father has come out to warn parents of strep A, after suffering and being severely affected by it.

And the beginning was when Alex Lewis thought he had the flu, in 2013, when he was in constant pain for 10 days, but his health deteriorated, which necessitated his transfer to the hospital, but he discovered that he had been infected with a dangerous bacteria and his chance of survival was only 3%.

And among the symptoms that Alex experienced was severe pain, accompanied by a change in the color of his skin to purple, and his limbs stopped performing their functions, so the doctors provided him with what helped him to carry them out mechanically.

Louis lost all four limbs, had to undergo surgery to reconstruct his face, and the injury resulted in a sore throat and blood poisoning, after the infection destroyed his entire mouth. However, the father of two managed to survive.

Interestingly, among the children who recently died in Britain was a five-year-old girl who was being treated at the Royal Belfast Hospital.

The girl was transferred to the intensive care unit, where she died a few days after the death of a 4-year-old boy. It seems that he is the son of an Arab family, because his name is Muhammad Ibrahim Ali.

A 12-year-old student in London and another 6-year-old boy died, as well as 5 children, each under 5.

The newspaper confirmed that the country’s health services authority, “NHC”, is well prepared to deal with the spread of the infection, noting that there is no shortage of antibiotics to combat this health problem.

This infection causes a sore throat and fever leading to a rash and occurs as a result of physical contact or from droplets from sneezes and coughs.

Authorities have warned that people over the age of 65, those with HIV, those using steroids or those with diabetes, heart disease or cancer are the most vulnerable to infection, along with children.
