Alcohol is once again taking its toll. In the night of Friday August 4 to Saturday August 5, 2023 around two o’clock in the morning, an accident involving two vehiclesoccurred at Dijon (Côte-d’Or), at the intersection between boulevard Mansart and rue des Péjoces.
Stuck in the cockpit, the driver of the first car had to be extricated. Considered seriously injured, he was transported to absolute urgency at the Dijon University Hospital. He died a few hours later.
The other driver, who had fled, was arrested.
Drunk driving
When help arrived on site, the driver of the second vehicle was no longer there, he had probably ran away. However, he was quickly arrested. According The Public Goodhe initially denied having any connection with the accident, assuring that his car had been stolen before acknowledging the facts.
According to the assistant prosecutor, the driver was “presumably alcoholic”, a hypothesis also confirmed by the person responsible for the accident, a 32-year-old from Dijon. A judicial inquiry is opened and the man was remanded in custody.
At the time of the accident, another man, visibly shocked, had been transported to the Dijon University Hospital before also fleeing. ” He is the passenger of the striking vehicle“, confirms the deputy public prosecutor. He has not yet been found, but the man is always wanted.
