The farewell of the Daile Theater actor Pēteris Liepiņš, who passed away on May 10, will take place in the Great Hall of the Riga Crematorium on Tuesday, May 17, at 1 p.m.
As Agnese Vārpiņa, a representative of the Daile Theater, informed the agency LETA, the artist will be laid on the ground in the 1st Forest Cemetery at 3 p.m.
Liepiņa’s family asks you to respect the privacy of your relatives and not to take photos or say goodbye to the actor.
Liepiņš was born on May 28, 1943 in Mazozolu village, Ogre district, as the youngest of six children of the shopkeeper Jānis Liepiņš and his wife Ella.
The artist studied at Mengele Primary School, then at Ērglu Secondary School. After graduating from school and serving in the Soviet Army, he entered the fourth studio of the Daile Theater. During his studies, the future actor had the opportunity to participate in the performances of director Pēteris Pētersons.
Liepiņš graduated from the fourth study of Daile Theater in 1971. At the same time, he obtained a higher education at the Theater Faculty of the Latvian State Conservatory in the specialty “Professional Theater and Film Actor”.
Liepins has been an actor at the Daile Theater since 1966. The artist has played roles in more than 150 performances at the Daile Theater. He has also played more than 30 movies.
In 1973, Liepiņš became a member of the Latvian Theater Workers’ Union, in 1986 he received the honorary title of Meritorious Performer of the Latvian SSR.
In 2002, he received an award named after his older brother Edgars Liepiņš. In 2002, the actors were awarded the Order of the Three Stars, Class IV. The actor was nominated five times for the Players’ Night Award and twice for the “Great Kristaps Award”.
