Marilia Mendonza, one of the most popular contemporary Brazilian singers, died in a plane crash at the age of 26.
Four other people – her uncle, her producer and two crew members – were also killed in the incident in the southeastern state of Minash Gerais.
An investigation has been launched to determine the causes of the crash.
She is one of the biggest names in Brazilian country music, also known as sertanejo.
Last year, as the concerts were canceled due to the pandemic, she participated in a series of online concerts. One of them set the record for the most watched live in the world with 3.3 million viewers on YouTube.
In 2020, she was the most listened artist in Brazil on Spotify.
Mendoza, who has a two-year-old son, had to go to a concert last night in the town of Caratinga, 12 kilometers from the crash site.
