A famous chef who participated in a protest against hijab in Iran was beaten to death by religious police

Celebrity chef Mehrshad Shahidi, who took part in the protest against hijab in Iran, was reportedly beaten to death by the country’s religious police. The brutal murder took place before Mehrshad’s twentieth birthday. Thousands of people took to the streets to protest as his body was cremated on Saturday.

A 19-year-old man arrested during an anti-hijab protest was beaten to death by religious police while in custody, The Telegraph reports. It is said that the cause of death was a blow to the head. However, his family said they were pressured to say their son died of a heart attack.

However, the Iranian government denied this. Authorities say there were no injuries on Mehrshad’s body.
