A Family’s Low-Cost Homecoming Journey on a Three-Wheeled Motorbike

Jakarta

Do homecoming at a low cost is certainly everyone’s desire. One of them is Sarban (51), who transports six of his family members using a three-wheeled motorbike to cut travel costs.

When met at the homecoming service post in Kedung Waringin, West Bekasi, Sarban appeared to be modifying his motorbike. He put a cover on the top of the vehicle as a roof so it doesn’t get too hot or caught in the rain while driving.

On the back, you can see a lot of luggage that is about to be taken to his hometown. Sarban said he and six other family members wanted to go home from Tangerang to Indramayu.

“To Indramayu from Tangerang. There are seven people,” said Sarban when met at the location, Thursday (20/4/2023).

Sarban said he usually goes home by bus or other public transportation. However, this year is a bit different. Sarban brought his family on a tricycle to save costs.

“The cost of using the bus is IDR 250,000 per person, usually IDR 100,000, now it’s IDR 250,000. Yesterday collected only IDR 70,000, just for gasoline,” he explained.

Sarban has prepared a series of preparations for this year’s homecoming trip. It takes eight hours to travel so that Sarban and his family can arrive safely in Inramayu.

Sarban said he would take turns driving with other family members to save energy.

“Seven hours at the most, eight hours at the longest. Take a rest and rest anyway, most are tired of resting. Same with this alternately Directions,” he said.

Kapolda Advises Rest When Tired

Kapolda Metro Jaya Inspector General Karyoto also inspected Sarban and other travelers at the post. During his visit, he appealed to travelers, especially those using two-wheeled vehicles, to get enough rest. Thus, the number of traffic accidents can be reduced.

“We urge if you are tired to rest. The current situation is unusually hot. Again, we say that our brothers and sisters who are going home with dirty clothes can leave safely and comfortably. If you concentrate well and don’t speeding the potential for accidents can be reduced,” said Karyoto at the location.

Karyoto also asked travelers to take advantage of the post provided to rest. There are many facilities that can be utilized at the Kedung Waringin post, from massage equipment, health checks, to free food.

“We see the TNI-Polri and the community, good donors, those who provide sponsored land have had a very good collaboration. We provide facilities for our brothers and sisters who go home on motorbikes to rest. There are massage places, toilets, food, all for free,” he explained .
