Saturday, a man born in 1964, threatened to explode his house located rue Entre les Ponts in Verviers. After spending several hours entrenched at his home, the suspect was finally subdued by the security forces who launched the assault after breaking the windows of the house to let out the gas.
According to the first elements of the investigation, a family dispute is behind the reaction of the fifties, information which will have to be confirmed by the investigation. The suspect was also intoxicated at the time of the incident, said the Divisional Prosecutor.
After interviewing the suspect’s family members, a home visit was made. There, investigators discovered a large quantity of prohibited weapons, the majority of which were knives.
The first elements of the investigation also revealed that the suspect did have the means to detonate his home. Sunday shortly before 4 p.m., the Divisional Prosecutor had not yet received the suspect’s hearing, which was to be carried out during the day. So there are still many gray areas as to the events that took place on Saturday, between Entre Bridges. The investigation which is in its infancy will have to shed light on these facts.
The file will be the subject of an investigation on Monday.
