A Fallout 4 master spent 100 days building a real shelter, pushing the settlement system to its limits

Bethesda’s Fallout 4, released in 2015, offers drama in a retro-futuristic post-apocalypse. The settlement building system allows players to turn it into their inhospitable home away from home. But as Fallout master SirBalz shows in a recent video, even the end of the world can look pretty cozy if you spend 100 days on it.

By far my most challenging build to date! It required all the skills acquired over a decade. Hope it’s worth it!

And it really is worth it. While Fallout 4’s settlement system offers an impressive amount of customization, it took a lot of skill to turn the generic structures into something as detailed and lived-in as SirBalz’s Hideout. The video shows numerous incredible features: a round door, an entrance with flower beds and dry fountains, and an observation point for a guard in a suit.

Also shown are furnished rooms on both sides of the shelter for NPCs who maintain settlements in working order. SirBalz created everything for them: bedrooms, a dining room with red-striped sofas, a hydroponics laboratory, a cheesy disco bar with pink neon lighting and much more.

All that remains is to find the same amount of free time and you will be able to make the same Shelter.
