A Dutch woman was rescued after a small plane crashed into a lake in Malawi this afternoon. This is what Malawi’s Minister of Information, Moses Kumkuyu, said in a statement report.
According to the minister, the plane crashed in shallow water near the shore of Lake Malawi. There were three people on board, including the Dutch woman who survived the crash. She was rescued by fishermen and taken to a local hospital with minor injuries where she is being treated. Another passenger and the pilot have not yet been found.
The plane was on its way from Nkhotakota town to Liwonde town, a flight that takes more than an hour. The American sports plane, Cessna C210, usually fits six people.
The cause of the accident is still unknown. It is also unclear who the other passenger is on board.
