The last week, a dust storm so ridiculously large that it was visible from space swept through Colorado. The GOES-East satellite of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration captured the two-hour time-lapse of the storm, which you can see above.

On FridayThe National Weather Service in Pueblo said strong north winds exceeded 96 kph and a dust storm warning remained in effect over southeastern Colorado through the morning and afternoon. The National Weather Service also issued a warning for the region on Friday, saying high winds increased the “critical fire hazard,” according to the Denver Post.

The storm severely limited visibility on main roads. The videos shared by the Colorado State Patrol of cars that stop on the side of the road look like scenes out of a movie from Mad Max, the horizon is dissipated by a thick cloud of dust that obstructs the air.

Windy conditions, poor visibility and a fatal accident closed a stretch of highway in both directions that runs from Denver to the Kansas state line. The accident killed one person and injured 15 others, tweeted the Colorado State Patrol. The interstate was blocked for more than three hours, said a spokesman for the Colorado Department of Transportation. al Denver Post.
