The case is from Plovdiv
A drunk driver without a license nearly killed a young family in Plovdiv. The incident happened in the Trakia district on Saturday around 11:30 p.m. The victim managed to catch the culprit and film the incident. He immediately filed a report with the police.
“I was lucky to avoid a head-on collision. The man was very drunk – he could not walk or talk. Turns out you can refuse to be tested for alcohol. This is a loophole in the law”, said the victim Dimo Neikov on the air of “Hello, Bulgaria”.

The police told NOVA that the driver had 14 traffic violations. The Prosecutor’s Office added that the man did not give a blood sample for alcohol, again because by law he has the right to refuse it as well. A case will be filed against him.
“He faces up to 3 years in prison and a fine of BGN 200 to BGN 1,000,” explained Ch. inspector Yordan Milushev, head of the “Road Police” – Plovdiv.
