Pierre Didierjean is a happy man. The director of the Ecology and Nature department of the city sparkles by showing a preview of his “drop of water”: the new ephemeral garden called “Eau de Vies” being installed in the heart of Place Stanislas that he imagined for a year. It will be inaugurated this Friday, September 24 at 11:30 a.m. and will remain open to the public from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. until 1is November, with tours offered on Sundays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. from the balcony of Town Hall.

Fountains with bubbling geysers
“For this 18th edition of the Jardin Éphémère, we chose the theme of water and composed sixteen plant scenes with poetic names”, comments Pierre Didierjean while walking between the beds of blue plants and flowers – the color of water – , the fountains with bubbling geysers, the “planet blue” sphere surrounded by floral carpets… Even the statue of King Stanislas placed in the center of the drop, is surrounded by liquid, with gutters and watering cans from which a flood flows continued. A closed circuit system with pumps so as not to waste… “Water is in the spotlight this year. This blue gold which is drying up and whose protection and the fight against its pollution constitute one of the strong axes of our environmental policy ”, insists Isabelle Lucas, 1re deputy delegate for ecological town planning and the climate plan.

City nature protection policy
“This Ephemeral Garden, a must-see for residents, is one of the educational and transmission tools used in our policy of protecting nature in the city”, continues the elected official. “Taking care of water is taking care of nature. Moreover, during November, several of the 108 trees and part of the perennials in the exhibition will be replanted in the five schoolyards being revegetated.
As in previous years, some 600 to 700,000 visitors are expected during the five weeks of the exhibition. But there is no doubt that the Place Stanislas, recently elected favorite monument of the French, attracts many tourists. And that is a huge drop of water.
