A thermal power plant in Crimea, annexed to Russia, was attacked by a drone. This was announced by the pro-Russian authorities of the peninsula, quoted by “France Press”.
The attack did not cause major damage.
“An unmanned aerial vehicle attack was carried out on the Balaklava thermal power plant last night. The transformer suffered minimal damage. There were no injuries”. Russia-appointed governor of Sevastopol, Mikhail Razvityev, wrote in “Telegram”.
He ensures it “no threat to food” and that “the accident has no repercussions on the electricity supply in Sevastopol and the peninsula”.
According to Razvityev, the transformer that caught fire during the alleged attack “was under repair and not working”. It is added that the workers of the plant promptly extinguished the fire.
The news of the attack comes at a time when Ukrainian forces continue their counter-offensive in the south.
In recent weeks, Russian forces have hit Ukraine’s energy sources.
A few days ago, the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky withreportedthat Russian missiles and Iranian drones destroyed more than 1/3 of energy sector of Ukraine.
