Turkey has summoned the Greek ambassador to Ankara to the Foreign Ministry to protest that it said “Greece provides opportunities for terrorist groups to carry out activities”, Turkish media and Reuters reported.
Ambassador Christodoulos Lazaris was summoned after Greece allowed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) supporters to stage a protest near the Turkish embassy in Athens, the Anatolian Agency reported.
The PKK is recognized as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the EU and the United States.
This week, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said Turkey was suspending bilateral talks with Greece, in part because of a conflict with its prime minister and (allegations by Turkish authorities) over violations of Turkish airspace by Greece.
