There were eyewitnesses nearby who tried to help and pull the man ashore, but were unable to cope, rescuers said. One of those who rushed to help fell through the ice; they managed to get him out of the cold water and immediately took him to the hospital.
Rescuers began searching for the deceased the next day. Almost immediately, divers recovered a bicycle from a seven-meter depth, but it took four days to search for the man’s body.

From the very first day, the deceased’s dog came to the scene of the tragedy and refused to leave, reported local publication “UFA1.RU”. The squirrel sat right on the ice of the river, not going anywhere. Relatives of the drowned man and employees of the Ministry of Emergency Situations tried to pick her up, “but she was not given to anyone,” journalists told the rescuers.
The body was found and taken out of the water only on the fourth day. The squirrel was nearby and saw everything, rescuers said. According to them, it was clear how “the hope in the dog’s eyes went out.”

In the evening, a relative of the deceased reported “UFA1.RU” that Belka agreed to go with him. She did not want to leave the place of her owner’s death until the last minute, but in the end she obeyed and allowed herself to be taken away, the source told the journalists. The man promised that he would take care of the animal and “everything will be fine with Belka.”
Journalists of the publication found outthat the man who died in the same place seven years ago lost his wife and friend. In October 2017, all three were floating down the river in a kayak, but it capsized and the wife and friend were unable to escape. Belka’s owner then survived.
