After almost 3 years of work, the specialized American media The Verge today unveils its very first series. Expected on Netflix from June 21, it will be a more or less documentary show focusing on what (probably) the future holds for us on subjects as numerous as they are varied. The Verge requires, there will always be a link with technology and innovation.
A series Netflix by the creators of Explained
Produced in partnership with Vox Media Studios, creators of the Netflix documentary series Explained (in short), from which it will visibly resume the short format punctuated by interviews with experts, The Future Of will be broadcast twice. On June 21, 6 episodes will be available. They will cover the following topics:
- Dogs
- romantic encounters
- indoor plants
- The video game
- vacation in space
- Cheeseburgers
A week later, 6 new episodes will conclude this first season:
- The death
- La fashion
- Skyscrapers
- The sports
- Health
- Headphones
Narrated by Jurnee Smollett (recently seen in Lovecraft Country notably), The Future Of will try to show each of these subjects could evolve in a more or less distant future. In the trailer, we see data stored in plants, growing meat, how to quantify love or how to continue to live after death digitally, and many other things.
What to wait for season 6 of Black Mirror, which will soon return to Netflix. Note in passing that The Future Of is also produced by 21 Laps Entertainment, the production company behind Stranger Things.
More than anything, we wanted to make a show that makes people feel like an exciting and hopeful future is possible – if we put our minds to it.
