A doctor guilty of having consulted a medical file to reconquer a woman

A doctor pleaded guilty Monday to having consulted the medical file of a man who was not his patient in order to shake his couple by sharing the information obtained.

“You deserve better than that,” went to say the Dr Serge Ferron on the voicemail of a woman he was trying to win back by disclosing a mixture of true and false medical information about his new partner.

“It doesn’t tape, except with pills,” could be heard on the recording presented to the Disciplinary Council of the College of Physicians.

Orthopedic surgeon Dr Serge Ferron pleaded guilty by telephone to two counts for accessing confidential information without medical reason and then having transmitted it to a third party.

On February 15, 2019, the doctor accesses the files of a man who has never been his patient through the Dossier santé Québec platform.

Shortly after, he telephoned the woman to declare her love and try to warn her against the man he called “a former runner.”

He then listed a range of medical information about this man: cirrhosis of the liver, sexually transmitted diseases, heart problems, osteoporosis.

The fact that some of this information is incorrect or exaggerated is considered to be an aggravating factor by the Syndic of the College of Physicians.

More details to come.
