The Minister for Transport and Minister responsible for the Metropolis and the Montreal region, Mr.me Chantal Rouleau, underlined the particular and inspiring nature of the architectural consultation process.

It should be remembered that this participatory approach has been underway since 2019. After an online consultation and a discussion table, the Ministry set up, in 2020, an advisory committee specifically dedicated to architecture in order to benefit from the skills of experts. external. In the pursuit of activities relating to the architecture of the new bridge, citizens are invited to express themselves during the online public consultation which will be held from December 17, 2020 to January 18, 2021.

  • The Île ‑ aux ‑ Tourtes bridge is located in the axis of the Félix-Leclerc highway (highway 40) and connects the island of Montreal (village of Senneville) to the region of Montérégie (city of Vaudreuil-Dorion).

  • This bridge was put into service in 1965 and must now be rebuilt in order to ensure the sustainability of the interrive link.

  • The reconstruction project is subject to the environmental impact assessment and review procedure. The Ministry plans to publish the environmental impact study for the project in 2021.
