For its part, the Iraqi Football Association offered condolences to the families of the victims, and wrote in an official statement: “Adnan Darjal, President of the Iraqi Football Association, Chairman of the Organizing Committee for Gulf 25, on behalf of the Al-Ittihad family, extends his deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of the victims who were victims of a traffic accident. While they were traveling from Nasiriyah to Basra to watch the match of our national team and its Qatari brother, which is taking place today in the semi-finals, may God bless them with His vast mercy and dwell them in His spacious gardens.

For its part, the Iraqi Ministry of Youth and Sports wrote, through its accounts on social media: “My deepest condolences and sincere sympathy to the families of the victims, who fell victim to an unfortunate traffic accident while traveling from the city of Nasiriyah to Basra Governorate, to support the Iraqi national team in its match against its Qatari brother.”
