A strange discovery announced by NASA satellite yesterday, its summary that it found in the asteroid Bennu, two million and 250 thousand kilometers from Earth, on 6 rocks scattered in its southern hemisphere, and they differ greatly in color from it, “ranging in size from 1.5 to 4.3 meters, which is brighter than the rest of the asteroid, And it turned out to be compatible with materials from the asteroid Vesta, ”indicating that the rocks reached“ Benno ”from another asteroid, which was confirmed by Daniella DellaGiustina, the senior researcher on the team that prepared a study on the discovery, and published in the current issue of Nature Astronomy magazine specialized in astronomy.

To explain what happened, the American “NASA” produced a video, in which it explained that “Benno” inherited these rocks from its original asteroid, which is Vesta, which Al-Arabiya viewed with his biography that it is the second largest object in the “asteroid belt” located between Mars and Jupiter, and concluded Its scientists that a third asteroid hit a part of “Vesta”, which is rich in the radioactive pyroxene mineral, which is not located in Benno, so parts of its debris were scattered and traveled in space until they went to “Benno” by its gravity and settled in it.

Rocks different from everything on the surface of “Benno”, as is evident from the main image above. Discovered and photographed in the spring of last year by a probe that NASA launched in the name of OSIRIS-REx in 2016 towards the asteroid, and landed in 2018 on its surface in order to collect information about it and return from it in the middle of Next year, so that in 2023 it will arrive with various samples of its rocks on board, including some that have been found, and its source, Vesta, which was previously visited by a probe that NASA launched in 2007 under the name of Dawn, so it studied it and gathered a lot of information about it before proceeding later To study the planet Ceres, known as the “dwarf of the solar system” due to its small size.

For more than a year, scientists have been scrutinizing the images taken by the “Osiris-Rex” probe, and analyzing them according to the details of “Al Arabiya.net” from the American Fox News network, as well as from a statement that the agency broadcast on its website, until they found that it contains On traces of the mineral “pyroxene”, which is abundant in “Vista”, which is known to be the brightest among the asteroids observed from Earth telescopes.

What NASA scientists hope most from the rare and strange discovery is that what they have found will give them clues about the reason for mixing between the rocks of an asteroid and another one, even though it is not uncommon for asteroids to collide with each other in an amazing space with its spaces and its assets diverging at astronomical speeds that dazzle the imaginations. So the mystery will continue for a long time, and with it an important question will continue: If collisions easily occur between an asteroid and another small, then how easy is it to collide with a planet as large as Earth?
