A dialogue session on the role of youth in climate action, organized by DB World Al Khaleej newspaper

Yesterday, Dubai Ports World (DP World) organized a dialogue session entitled “Youth and Empowerment for Climate Action,” at the Energy Sector Transition Center in the Green Zone as part of the COP28 conference.

Participating in the event were Dr. Belisa Marucci, Professor at Hult International Business School, Kevin Shalhoub, CEO and Founder of Evlab, Piotr Konopka, Vice President of the Decarbonization and Energy Programs Group at DP World, and Subarna Mathur, Senior Advisor for Climate and Social Impact Affairs at the University of Dubai. New York Abu Dhabi, and Sankalp Suman, youth representative of India at COP28.

The interactive session aimed to emphasize the importance of the transition to clean energy and raise awareness of the importance of pushing climate action forward, by setting examples of promising young people from several different nationalities, as they are champions of climate action, and their experiences are presented to the “COP28” audience in Expo City Dubai.

The participants reviewed their experiences with the young people attending, on the importance of supporting climate action, each in their place, through realistic action and not just slogans, and finding innovative solutions by involving young people in decision-making, and also supporting people in the processes of “adaptation” and “mitigation” of climate change. The effects of climate change.

The participants pointed out that there are three main levels when making a decision, including governmental decision-making, or decision-making at the company level, all the way to personal decision-making, stressing that there is a difference between decision-makers and policy-makers.
